Backcourt

Moving on to the backcourt, the first stat that jumps out is the Kings’ 28th best assists per game stat at just 19.8. Combine that low total with a 15.8 turnovers per game problem, and that means the Kings are only able to pull off 1.2 assists per turnover. WE MAKE ALMOST AS MANY PASSES TO THE OTHER TEAM AS TO OURSELVES!!

The problem for years has been the inability of the team to create baskets through moving the ball, and this problem falls on the guards. It would be great to see Darren Collison bump his assist totals up to eight per game and Ben McLemore to start moving the ball around as well.

Passing aside, the backcourt has actually performed above expectation. McLemore’s shooting is coming along, Collison provides a transition threat and another scorer to alleviate pressure on Cousins and Gay, and both have stepped up on defense to force some great guards into bad nights (i.e. Russell Westbrook: 3-for-19, 10 points, 7 turnovers).
