Game 5

After consecutive home victories, the Warriors were once again playing at Oracle Arena, this time against the Eastern Conference co-leading Toronto Raptors.

The Raptors were on a nice run of their own heading into this game, going an impressive 8-2 in their last 10 games. Making the Raptors recent play more impressive is the fact that they’ve been without All-Star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan for some time now.

More from Golden State Warriors

Outside of DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, Toronto does’t have any names that wow you, but they play a fast brand of basketball and can fill up the scoreboard in a hurry. They’re a team that legitimately can run with the Warriors, and they tried to do just that.

The first quarter was a show, with both teams lighting it up. Golden State shot a tremendous 70 percent from the field in the first quarter, en route to 40 points.  They knocked down 5-of-6 shots from beyond the arc and tallied 13 assists, compared to just one turnover.

Toronto played nearly as well, shooting 59 percent from the field and scored 31 points in the opening quarter.

The blistering pace came back down to earth in the second quarter, where the Raptors outscored the Warriors 30-26.

From there, it was all Warriors. More specifically, it was all Curry, Green and Speights. Curry played one of his best game of the year, totaling 32 points, 12 assists, zero turnovers and one poster dunk.

To put in perspective how great Curry’s night was, he was the first player with 30 points, 12 assists and zero turnovers since Chris Paul on January 6th, 2009.

Green posted his first career triple-double, posting a line of 16 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds.  He also had two blocks and two steals.

"“One thing we always say when we’re playing against a team like this is, `This is a team we could possibly play later on in the year,” Green said. “Try to make a statement.”"

This was the first time that two Warriors had 12+ assists in the same game since Latrell Sprewell and Mark Price did it on April 5th, 1997.

Speights continued his campaign for Sixth Man of the Year, finishing with 26 points on 12-of-19 shooting.  He also hauled in eight rebounds.

The final score was Golden State 126, Toronto 105.

"“I went in the locker room and just told them, `I don’t have much to say other than wow,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said."

The Warriors’ victory gave them a three-game win streak and improved their record to 26-5 on the season.
