 Harrison Barnes

The Warriors exercised the fourth-year team options for both Harrison Barnes and Festus Ezeli, keeping the two 2012 draftees on the roster until the 2015-16 season.

While Ezeli has shown himself to be slowly improving despite missing all of last season, the same cannot be said for Barnes.

Barnes, unfortunately, hasn’t been able to improve upon his 2013 postseason performance, continuing to misuse the tools he has at his disposal.

  • Of course, the Warriors should continue to keep a watchful eye on their 2012 lottery pick as he adjusts to Kerr’s brilliant new offense, but the team should also be realistic in deciding whether Barnes fits long-term.

With Barnes seemingly locked in for the foreseeable future, the front office would be wise in making Barnes available on the trade market.

Going back to the subject of Lee, the power forward’s trade value is extremely low at the moment. Including Barnes in a package with Lee would make any deal much more attractive considering Barnes’ potential is still there waiting to be unlocked.

And in regards to Green, the fact that Barnes continues to look like a bust only helps support the notion that Green is more deserving of an extension over Barnes.

The Black Falcon has the potential to soar, but his lack of consistency only continues to disappoint those still waiting for him to take off.
