The Wild History of Game 6

5.) Billy Buckner Dooms a Forlorn Red Sox Franchise

The Curse of the Bambino haunted the Red Sox for 86-years. Billy Buckner‘s epic blunder in Game 6 of the ’85 World Series only corroborated the very tongue-in-cheek Ruthian jinx.

Buckner’s misfortune is one of baseball’s most infamous moments. For years, Bucker couldn’t walk in downtown Boston without being tormented by bitter Red Sox fans.

In 2004, the Red Sox lifted Ruth’s hex and won their first World Series in nearly a century. It goes without saying that Buckner’s life has improved since that Championship season.
