Scott Hannan is getting up there in age (35) and the Sharks probably re-signed him to help the young guys develop, to teach them the way, etc. It’s not a secret, he’s not paid mostly for his talent, he’s paid to teach the rookies the way of life in the NHL. He certainly can still play, but that may not be the prime reason the Sharks re-signed him.

As stated earlier he will get most of his time in more of a rotational role alongside Burns on the second pair, or once in a while on the third pair.
