6. Mirco Mueller will be a Rookie of the Year finalist

Mirco Mueller may have been one of the best picks in the 2013 NHL Draft, partly because the Sharks got him at 18th overall when he could have easily went in the top 15, maybe even in the top 10. My gut reaction to them picking him was that we needed a forward, not a defenseman, but once I looked into him a bit more I could see why they decided to take him.

He scored 27 points (5G+22A) in 60 games for Everett in the WHL last season, which is not eye-popping, but he’s not Erik Karlsson, he is a two-way defenseman like Mark-Edouard Vlasic or Zdeno Chara. If he can play his game, he could have a shot.

This may be a bit of a stretch, but hey, these are BOLD predictions, right?
