Kevin Love Requests Trade to Cleveland Cavaliers: How Does This Affect the Golden State Warriors?
Love is Missing Out
Just to be clear, this article is in no way trying to say that Golden State should just settle for what it has now and not try to improve the team. As Warriors general manager Bob Myers alluded to prior to the 2014 NBA Draft, the organization strongly believes there are other ways to improve the roster. That doesn’t mean they won’t explore every possible option for improving the roster, but team-defining trades aren’t the sole option when it comes to immediate improvement.
Whether it’s through organic growth and improvement from their younger players, or possibly from key free agent signings, the Warriors front office should be trusted to make the right call when it comes to improving the team. If they choose to stick with what they’ve built over the years and continue to oversee its growth, its likely their patience and nurturing will produce something worth being proud of. Why question the plan that ownership has had since the very beginning when their execution has been nearly flawless?
The team hasn’t settled for less by refusing to make an overly aggressive push for Love. They’ve made solid moves by signing two highly-coveted free agents, and now they’re counting on their young guns to make the jump to the next level. This is a franchise on the rise, a team that has been carefully developed into a winning culture and is supported by the best fans in the NBA.
If Love doesn’t want to be a part of that, then Love is blind.
Update: Kevin Love has reportedly withdrawn from Team USA Men’s Basketball due to his uncertain trade status.
