Bando made his third All-Star appearance, his second in a row, and finished fourth in the MVP voting as Oakland repeated as AL West, American League and World Series champs. He led the league with 32 doubles and 295 total bases and was one of four American League players to appear in all 162 games.

He also led the league with a 7.2 Offensive WAR and 113 Runs Created and was third with a 150 OPS-plus. He was seventh among AL position players with a 6.5 WAR.
