Donaldson had a huge breakout year in his first full major league season as he finished fourth in the MVP race while pacing the A’s to their second straight AL West title.
He was second in the American League with an 8.0 WAR (second among position players), fifth with a 6.5 Offensive WAR and 148 OPS-plus and sixth with 113 Runs Created.
Donaldson was sixth in the league with a .384 on-base percentage, seventh with an .883 OPS and 76 walks, ninth with a .499 slugging percentage and 289 total bases and 10th with 93 RBI. Defensively, he led AL third basemen with 143 putouts and 16 errors.
Offensively, he led AL third basemen with three triples; was second with 93 RBI, a .384 on-base percentage and .883 OPS; and third with a .301 batting average, 89 runs, 37 doubles and .499 slugging percentage.
But in the ALDS against Detroit, Donaldson was 3-for-21 and struck out eight times with one walk.
