Ellis returned after missing all of the 2004 season with a torn labrum after colliding with shortstop Bobby Crosby during a spring training game and he came back well.
He was 10th in the American League with a .316 batting average.
Ellis led AL second baseman with that .316 average, was second with a .384 on-base percentage and .861 OPS and third with five triples and a .477 slugging percentage.
