Another one of Baalke’s trademark injured draft picks. Unfortunately for Thomas, he tore his ACL in pre-draft workouts. It is speculated that Thomas would have gone early in the second round of the draft if not for his unfortunate injury. The have the roster that is needed to draft and redshirt an injured rookie for year. They might not have an immediate need for him now, but it is likely that Mike Iupati does not return to the team after this season. Thomas is insurance for Iupati along with any other player on the line that might get injured in the future.
