When the Giants signed Morse, it appeared as if the Giants’ defense in left field might take a serious hit with Morse’s below average defense. However, he’s fared pretty well.
Also, Hicks has been a defensive upgrade over Marco Scutaro. Hicks showed shaky defense at the beginning of the season, but he’s been solid ever since. He’s quick at turning double plays, and he can handle long throws too. Plus, his versatility greatly benefits the Giants.
The Giants worked on a lot of defensive fundamentals in spring training, including their infield shifts, and it seems to be paying off. They need to continue to play tight defense and not get sloppy.
