Posey earned his ticket to the show for keeps on May 29 and slugged his way to Rookie of the Year honors while also getting significant support in the MVP race as the Giants won their first World Series title since moving to San Francisco, the franchise’s first title since 1954. Defensively from behind the plate, Posey threw out 37.1 percent of runners attempting to steal. Posey got comfortable at the plate in July, hitting .417/.466/.699 with 20 runs, six doubles, seven home runs and 24 RBI in 27 games. He belted eight homers over the final month despite slumping to .233/.313/.505 over his final 28 games. But the bat got rolling again in October. Posey was 6-for-16 with three runs, a double and a stolen base in four games in an NLDS win over the Braves, 5-for-23 with a run, two doubles and three RBI in six games in an NLCS win over Philadelphia and 6-for-20 with two runs, a home run and two RBI as the Giants beat the Rangers in five games in the World Series.
