Alou had a second straight solid season for the Giants, who couldn’t defend their NL pennant in what turned out to be his last year in San Francisco. He was traded along with catcher Ed Bailey, pitcher Billy Hoeft and a player to be named later to the Milwaukee Braves in December for catcher Del Crandall and pitchers Bob Hendley and Bob Shaw. Infielder Ernie Bowman went to the Braves to complete the deal in January.
He was seventh in the National League with a 14.2 Power-Speed number.
Alou was seventh in the NL with nine triples, ninth with 31 doubles and 60 extra base hits and 10th with a .474 slugging percentage.
He was second among NL right fielders with 82 RBI and 31 doubles and third with nine triples.
