Davenport spent his entire 13-year career with the Giants and 1962 was his highlight reel. He was second among National League third basemen with a .297 batting average and third with 25 doubles and five triples.
Davenport did tail off after a strong first half, where he hit .324/.373/.519 in 83 games, with 57 runs, 19 doubles, four triples, 10 homers and 42 RBI.
In the three-game tiebreaker against the Dodgers for the National League pennant, Davenport was 5-for-13 with three runs, a homer, three RBI and two walks. Against the Yankees in the World Series, Davenport was just 3-for-22 with a run, a double, an RBI and four walks as the Giants fell in seven games.
