Bordick went where he was needed in the middle of the diamond in his first year as a regular and posted the only .300 season of his career while getting some support in the MVP race for the AL West champions.
He was second in the American League with 14 sacrifice hits, ninth with nine hit by pitches and 10th with a .300 batting average. Defensively, he led the American League with a 5.73 range factor per nine innings at second base.
Bordick made 113 starts in the No. 8 spot in the order and hit .299/.357/.374. He started 18 times batting seventh and made 14 starts in the No. 9 hole.
But he didn’t have a great ALCS against the Blue Jays, going 1-for-19 with a run, a stolen base and a walk.
