Best Of The San Francisco Giants: Top 10 Seasons At 2nd Base
By Phil Watson
Pitchers are pitching and catchers are catching under the warm Arizona sun and Golden Gate Sports is in the midst of looking at some of the best single-season performances in the history of the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants, by position.
Today, we look at the 10 best seasons by second basemen in the history of the Giants, dating to their arrival in San Francisco in 1958.
This is the fourth in the series on the Giants, as we’ve already listed the top 10 seasons for left field, relievers and catchers.
To qualify for this list, players needed 100 games at the position for the season in question. This requirement was not prorated for the strike-shortened seasons of 1981 or 1994.
Before you turn the page, here are the five seasons that just missed the cut:
15. Jeff Kent, 1999
14. Robby Thompson, 1988
13. Robby Thompson, 1992
12. Ron Hunt, 1969
11. Jeff Kent, 1997
