Wilson earned his second All-Star Game selection while getting votes in both the Cy Young and MVP balloting while being the guy to close the door in the ninth inning for San Francisco’s first World Series champions.

He converted 48 of 53 save chances and allowed only four of 30 inherited runners to score, posting an average leverage index of 2.101.

Wilson’s 48 saves were the most in the National League in 2010.

Among relievers, he was fourth with an ERA-plus of 217, fifth with a 1.81 ERA and ninth with 11.21 strikeouts per nine innings.

Pitching in the postseason for the first time didn’t appear to be that daunting for The Beard, who saved two games in three appearances against Atlanta in the NLDS, pitching four scoreless innings. He saved three of the Giants’ four victories over the Phillies in the NLCS, appearing in four games and working five scoreless frames, while also earning a win. In the World Series against Texas, Wilson pitched three times, recorded one save and didn’t allow a run in 2.2 innings–making it a total of 11.2 scoreless frames in 10 postseason appearances.
