Henderson made his third straight All-Star Game appearance and his fourth overall in the final season of his first stint with the A’s; he was traded to the Yankees with Bert Bradley for Tim Birtsas, Jay Howell, Stan Javier, Eric Plunk and Jose Rijo in December 1984 after leading the league with 66 stolen bases, the fifth straight year he led the American League in thefts.
He was second in the AL with a 25.8 Power-Speed number, fifth with a 5.9 Offensive WAR, seventh with a 146 OPS-plus and ninth among position players with a 6.0 WAR.
Henderson was also second in the league with 113 runs, third with a .399 on-base percentage, sixth with 86 walks and seventh with a 78.57 stolen base percentage (66-for-84).
