Bonds was runner-up to teammate Jeff Kemp in the MVP race and was selected for his ninth All-Star Game, leading the NL with 117 walks and a 188 OPS-plus.
He was also fourth in WAR at 7.7 (third among position players) and led the NL in Offensive WAR at 7.3. His 155 Runs Created was also fourth.
Bonds was second in the league with 49 home runs, a .440 on-base percentage, a .688 slugging percentage, a 1.127 OPS and 22 intentional walks; third with 129 runs; sixth with 81 extra-base hits and 10th with 330 total bases
But he once again struggled in the postseason, going just 3-for-17 with two runs, a double, a triple and an RBI as the Giants fell to the Mets in four games in the NLDS.
