The Sacramento Kings organization announced today that they will be partnering with Sacramento local television station, News10, an ABC affiliate, to broadcast 11 games of the Kings’ 2013-2014 schedule.
The season and home opening game against the Denver Nuggets on Oct. 30th will receive top billing as “Long Live the Kings” and commercial free, coming to Sacramento television sets with zero commercial interruptions. News10 General Manager Maria Barrs and Sacramento Kings President Chris Granger had statements regarding the television partnership.
From the press release:
"No one was more excited than we were about the decision to keep the Kings in Sacramento. This is a pivotal year, and a commercial-free opening game is a great chance for fans to tune-in and rediscover why Kings basketball is so exciting and so important to this community,"
said Barrs.
"News10 has been a loyal and valuable partner for us, and we look forward to working with them again this year. We are excited to offer the home opener commercial-free, and give our wonderful fans a peek into the arena experience on what is certain to be a special night,"
said Granger.
Here are a couple tweets that tease the “can’t miss” type evening in Sacramento from News10’s Sean Cunningham:
News10 sports anchor Bryan May also tweeted in response to a question regarding the Kings broadcast team:
I will be in attendance at the game myself for the home opener, and I am thoroughly excited for what Vivek Ranadivé and company have in store for me and the rest of the great, passionate, loyal fans of the Sacramento Kings. I’ll have to set my DVR for this one.
Seventy of the remaining games will be broadcast by Comcast SportsNet California and one nationally televised game will be on ESPN when the Kings play the Detroit Pistons.
