Detroit has done better than most teams since the All-Star Break; it has only lost nine games. The Tigers have surprisingly good pitching for a team known for its hitting; they are in the top ten for ERA, WHIP, and BAA (seventh, sixth, and seventh respectively). Detroit has taken a commanding lead in the AL Central, with a seven-game lead over Cleveland, who they won their latest series with.

Of course hitting has been the Tigers’ strong point. The team ranks second in runs scored, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage—and first in batting average. Miguel Cabrera continues to be superb behind the plate, with a .360 batting average, 120 RBI, and 40 home runs. With a team that bats as well as Detroit, there’s always the possibility of putting points on the board.
