Herm Edwards is mostly known for his “Hermisms” that were created during his coaching career and his time as an analyst on ESPN. Edwards is mainly known by his passionate and somewhat silly personality that has displayed during this time.

Edwards would play for the Eagles from 1977 to 1986. He was a solid cornerback during his career in Philadelphia. He is ranked second in the team’s history with 33 interceptions over his nine seasons. During his nine years, he was active for 135 straight games before being cut by incoming coach Buddy Ryan.

Edwards is also very well known for a single play against the New York Giants in 1978. The Miracle at the Meadowlands was a play that occurred in the final 31 seconds of the game. The Giants decided to run a play to run out the clock to end the game, but a delay in breaking the huddle forced the Giants to snap the ball quickly and led to a poor handoff. The ball would bounce off the turf and right to Edwards, who would sprint in untouched for the touchdown to give the Eagles a 19-17 victory. This play led to the creation of the “victory formation”.

Edwards would go on to have a mediocre coaching career with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. He would compile a career record of 54-74 in the regular season and a career playoff record of 2-4.
