Asomugha was drafted by the Raiders to pair with Charles Woodson. He played as a part-time player during his first two seasons, but he became a starter in 2005 and played solidly with 50 tackles and 14 pass deflections.

The following season saw Asomugha become the number one cornerback with the departure of Woodson. He did not disappoint either with an exceptional year. He had eight interceptions to go along with 50 tackles and 19 pass deflections. He was named to the NFL All-Pro team.

From a statistical standpoint, Asomugha had a quiet 2007 season. He had 34 tackles with one interception and seven pass deflections. A lot of the low numbers were due to how little he was targeted. He was thrown at 31 times and allowed just 10 receptions.

The next three seasons would show how dominate Asomugha’s game truly was. He was named to three straight Pro Bowls and three straight NFL All-Pro Teams. He allowed just 31 receptions on 81 targets during that three season span.

Asomugha left the Raiders in the offseason prior to the 2011 season. He signed a big-money deal with the Philadelphia Eagles as part of the “Dream Team” offseason. Much like Jackson in the previous spot, his ranking has dropped due to his poor play as of late. His time with Philadelphia has been horrific, as he has gone from the leagues to elite to the bottom of the league in cornerback rankings.

This offseason saw him sign with San Francisco in an attempt to revive his career. A few more solid seasons could send Asomugha up several slots.
