2013 NBA Draft Preview: McCollum, Shabazz

The Kings have had two players return for their second workout with the team. They clearly are interested in both Lehigh’s C.J. McCollum and UCLA’s Shabazz Muhammad.

Muhammad is a 6-6, 222 pound forward who is a strong, physical player who finishes very well around the basket. Muhammad can get to the rim, and is capable of scoring without dominating the ball. He has been said to lack athleticism and will need to continue to develop a shot off the dribble if he wants to be an effective NBA scorer. Muhammad has had several off-court distractions that would not help the already tumultuous Kings locker room.

McCollum is a 6-3, 197 pound guard who has a very quick first step. He is a very good shooter who is very dangerous in transition. McCollum has drawn several comparisons to the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry and the Portland Trail Blazers’ Damina Lillard.

He is also a capable rebounder who is better than average for a guard. The only negative thing about McCollum is he lacks athleticism.
