In 2010 Jayson Werth inked a seven-year, $126 million contract, which is still the 14th biggest contract in MLB history. While the Nationals have seen an upturn in production overall, even making a postseason appearance in 2012, Jayson Werth’s 25 home runs, 89 RBI and dismal .266 batting average definitely do not justify $18 million a year, regardless of the amount of experience he brings to the clubhouse.
