Damage Control…Too Little Too Late
Next, he tried to do some damage control on Twitter:
Was actually informed just now that the report I had yesterday on #Bruins being front runner+having offer on the table for Clowe is FALSE.

I won't name the source who fed me the false info, but it was the editor for a California sports website.

What I have confirmed with my sources is that the #Bruins #Leafs and #Habs are indeed interested in Clowe, but no confirmation on (cont)
— Hockeyy Insiderr (@HockeyyInsiderr) March 21, 2013
(cont) the #Bruins offer on the table of 2nd rounder + defenseman prospect. Rest assured, communication between me&bad source is interrupted
— Hockeyy Insiderr (@HockeyyInsiderr) March 21, 2013
Only reason I bring up the #Bruins info as false is my integrity. My followers deserve to know the exact truth of behind-the-scenes NHL.

Wow. Five tweets admitting it was a wrongful source, but he blows it by claiming he goes “behind-the-scenes.” It’s more like “behind the computer screen.”
So there you have it. Visual proof that “Hockeyy Insiderr,” one of the more popular anonymous “insiders,” is a complete fraud.
My intent in doing this was not to harm this “insider’s” reputation. I did this as an experiment to see whether these so-called “trade breakers” were really who they claimed to be. There are numerous Twitter accounts out there similar to “Hockeyy Insiderr” that make up stories and pass them off as truth.
So my point is, check your sources. Instead of falling victim to some random guy behind a computer in his parent’s basement, turn to the mainstream media (ESPN, CBSSports, NBCSports, etc.) that, more often than not, get things right.
