The 2019 NHL All-Star Game is nearly upon us, with the San Jose Sharks set to host the event that could see players like Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson shine.

With the 2019 NHL All-Star Game less than a week away, the city of San Jose and the San Jose Sharks are getting ready for the midseason celebration.

The big week will officially begin on Thursday, January 24th, when the NHL Fan Fair opens at San Jose McEnery Convention Center. The Fan Fair is going to be at the convention center through Sunday, January 27th. The Fan Fair will include different hockey-themed activities such as NHL mascot appearances, NHL trophy showcase, NHL legends appearances (past and present), and many other activities that the whole family can enjoy.

It is sure to be a great weekend of fun for the whole family as this is the first time the NHL All-Star festivities will be here since 1997.

The two main events will happen on Friday, January 25th, and Saturday, January 26th. Friday is the NHL Skills competition where the NHL’s best will compete in different competitions to see who are truly the most skilled in the league.

Some of the events that will take place are the Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater, SAP NHL Hardest Shot, and Ticketmaster NHL Save Streak to name a few. If you’re a Sharks fan, one should expect to see at least one San Jose player out there participating on Friday. The best bet for that participant will be Brent Burns in the hardest shot competition. Joe Pavelski may also be out there in some of the other competitions. The Skills competition will start at 6 pm PT if you are not able to attend the event at SAP Center in downtown San Jose.

Saturday, is the true main event as it is the 2019 Honda NHL All-Star Game. All four divisions will have the chance at competing against each other to see which one is the best in the league. The Sharks lead all NHL teams with three participants in this year’s game. Burns, Pavelski, and Erik Karlsson are the three players that will represent the Sharks this year.

The same format as last year will be in played this year during the 3-on-3 tournament. Not only are the players playing for pride and bragging rights, there is also a $1 million price for the winning team. The NHL announced that they would add the incentive to the game as they hope it would add some motivation for the players to come out and play their best game.

If you are a Bay Area resident, it is going to be a great weekend for the whole Bay Area. I would recommend at least attending one of these spectacular events. If you are coming to San Jose for these activities from out of state or even a different city in California, San Jose welcomes you and is excited to have you for this fun-filled weekend.
