Oakland Raiders vs. Chicago Bears: Game Day Open Thread

facebooktwitterreddit

The Oakland Raiders are in the Windy City this morning, taking on the Chicago Bears. The Raiders find themselves in the unusual position of being favorites on the road. They are looking to build on their solid 2-1 start with a fast start and a win over a wounded but still dangerous Bears team. Let’s hope they’re focused on the Bears and aren’t looking ahead to next week’s showdown with Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.

Though, it would be more than terrific to see Adrian Peterson, Teddy Bridgewater, and the Minnesota Vikings demolish that Broncos team and set up a showdown with Denver with first place in the AFC West on the line. Playing a meaningful division game would be a position the Raiders haven’t been in for quite some time.

But that’s neither here nor there at this point. The Raiders need to focus on winning this game, improving in some key areas they need to improve upon, and get to 3-1 before the Denver game even becomes truly relevant in that sense.

Here are some keys to victory for the Raiders against the Bears:

INJURY REPORT

Out for the Silver and Black today are Taiwan Jones, Benson Mayowa, Keith McGill, and C.J. Wilson

Jermon Bushrod is the only player listed as “OUT” for the Bears on their latest injury report, though there are some rumors that wide receiver Alshon Jeffery will sit this game as well – which would be a big bonus for a struggling Raiders secondary.

The bigger surprise is that Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will be playing today. Throughout the week, there was wide speculation that Cutler would miss the game with the hamstring injury that sidelined him last week. Though, Raiders HC Jack Del Rio isn’t surprised, he’s been preparing his team to face Cutler all week.

So call your shot. Raiders or Bears today? Who’s going to win it? Who will be today’s big ballers? Who’s going to have a rough afternoon?

This is an open thread, so this is your soapbox to stand up and shout. Let us all know what you think about the game and all things Raiders.

It’s just about time for kickoff – GO RAIDERS!
