What started with a Jim Harbaugh departure for the San Francisco 49ers has now turned into one of the most entertaining offseasons in the NFL. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was also let go, and he has now signed on to run the defense with the Chicago Bears. Ed Donatell, the former defensive backs coach, is also on his way to Chicago to join Fangio on John Fox’s new staff.

Coaches were the start to the 49ers offseason jumble, and now it is the players.

The unexpected retirements of Patrick Willis and Chris Borland have shaken up the 49ers plans after being active in the free agency pool. Over the course of free agency, the 49ers have brought in Darnell Dockett, Torrey Smith, Erik Pears, Shareece Wright, Jerome Simpson, and Reggie Bush. Also to note, Justin Smith is still 50/50 on retiring or playing another season.

With the Willis, Borland, and Harbaugh news, they shadow what 49ers’ talent is still around. Newly-hired Jim Tomsula is now in charge, and entering his first NFL Draft as head coach.

The 49ers already possess depth at multiple positions, but here is a review on what positions they may target in the upcoming 2015 NFL Draft.
