There’s a lot of baseball still to be played in 2014. There are divisional races, postseason series, and, the mecca of them all, the World Series. But on Monday, Major League Baseball released every team’s tentative 2015 season schedule, and it never hurts to look ahead.

The San Francisco Giants begin their campaign on April 6th in Phoenix for the Arizona Diamondbacks’ home opener, marking the sixth consecutive year the Giants have opened on the road.

The season starts with a seven-game road trip, with the stop in Arizona lasting three games, followed by a four-game set with the San Diego Padres in San Diego. San Diego hosts the Giants on April 9th for Petco Park’s home opener.

April 13th will finally mark the Giants’ home opener, with the Colorado Rockies in town trying to spoil the festivities. Their own home opener will be the third opener for the Giants, marking the second straight year that has happened.

The April 13th matchup against Colorado is the first of a ten-game home stand, consisting of a three-game series with the Rockies, a four-game set with Arizona, and the first matchup against the archrival Los Angeles Dodgers.

April will be a busy month for National League West divisional matchups. The Giants play twenty-three games in the first month of the season, all against other NL West teams. The Giants could make a big splash by having a good month against their rivals.

The first series against a non-divisional opponent begins on May 1st, when the Giants welcome the Los Angeles Angels into town. The three-game swing will be each team’s first interleague matchup of the season. San Francisco is matched up with the AL West in 2015, and will play the Houston Astros, Angels, Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, and in the traditional Bay Bridge Series, the Oakland Athletics.

San Francisco’s biggest rival, the Dodgers, come to town for the first time on April 21st for a three-game visit, the first of nineteen contests between the two. The Giants travel to Los Angeles for their first visit the very next week, starting another three game set on April 27th.

If the Giants and Dodgers are battling for the division lead late in the 2015 season like they are this year, they will have the opportunity to battle it out head-to-head once again, as they will play each other seven times in the final month of the season.

The regular season ends with a seven-game homestand, with a four-game set against the Dodgers and a three-game swing with Colorado. The Colorado series takes the regular season later than normal, as it begins October 2nd and runs through the 4th.

San Francisco fans can have fun analyzing the schedule for next year. But let’s not forget that the Giants are still in the thick of a pennant race this year.
