San Francisco Giants vs. Milwaukee Brewers Series Preview
Two of the best teams in the National League, the San Francisco Giants and the Milwaukee Brewers, will face off in a three-game series starting today.
The Giants currently have a 61-51 record, and they are 1.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. They boast an impressive 32-21 road record, and they hope to improve that record in this three-game series in Milwaukee.

The Brewers also have a 61-51 record, and they are currently leading the NL Central by one game. According to Caitlin Swieca of MLB.com, the Brewers have been leading or tied atop the NL Central every day of this season since April 5th. That’s pretty impressive. The Brewers also are the only team in MLB that has five players with at least 50 RBI: Ryan Braun, Khris Davis, Carlos Gomez, Jonathan Lucroy, and Aramis Ramirez.
To start off their 10-game road trip, the Giants first traveled to Citi Field to play a four-game series with the New York Mets. In that series, the Giants saw two complete games from Ryan Vogelsong and Madison Bumgarner, they saw a near perfect game from Jake Peavy, they got a solid start out of Tim Hudson, and they ultimately won the series 3-1. They also saw their offense come alive again, behind home runs and timely hits.
Hunter Pence, Buster Posey, and Pablo Sandoval stepped up in the Mets’ series. Posey collected four hits in Sunday’s game, and he drew four walks in Monday’s game. Sandoval came up with several clutch hits as well.
Pence had two doubles, two triples, and two home runs in the series, and according to Alex Pavlovic of the Bay Area News Group, a player hasn’t done that in a long time:
"From the Giants notes, Hunter Pence (two doubles, two triples, two homers in New York) was the first Giant to do that in one series since Dusty Rhodes had three doubles, two triples and two homers in a four-game series in St. Louis in 1954."
Brandon Belt‘s return was also part of the reason why the Giants woke up offensively, and they hope to get even more of an offensive spark when Angel Pagan returns, which might be very soon.
Angel Pagan will head to Milwaukee tomorrow, should be back in Giants lineup on Thursday.

Thursday at 11:10 AM PT: Jake Peavy (0-2, 4.85) vs. Wily Peralta (13-6, 3.52)
