I have seen all kinds of wacky Mock Drafts, and many of them have either a WR or a TE dropping to the 49ers at #31. I have seen Eifert, Ertz, Allen, and today Peter King is thinking that Corderell Patterson will drop to #31 because of his sloppy route running. Lets imagine who I’d take if both Ertz and Allen were to fall to #31. Although I like them both, I would have to take Allen, not because I am a Cal fan but because Allen brings more to the team than Ertz does, and Harbaugh likes players that can multitask.

Allen can return kicks and punts, he has spent his collegiate career as a second tier WR, but he was recruited to Cal as the #1 FS in the nation, yet we never got to see him play FS at Cal. If he could still play FS he’d be more valuable to the team than as WR, a position he would probably not see much time playing in his rookie season as a backup to Anquan Boldin, a player Allen was compared to by Nick Saban when he tried to recruit him to Alabama.

I’m shocked Allen fell so far; I thought SF would take him 55th and wait on a TE. I think he will be a great new toy for Rivers in San Diego. Thanks for commenting!
