Oakland Raiders: 3 trades that could land the team Stefon Diggs
Judging Stefon Diggs’ price tag
This hypothetical trade can be especially tricky to figure out because we’re talking about two second-place teams that are looking to make a deal that will benefit both sides immediately.
The Vikings, unlike the Cleveland Browns of last week’s article, can’t just completely mail in this season and look to have a good draft. They’ll be respecting a return that helps them in the immediate and distant future.
As previously stated, Diggs is an all-league talent that would be the number one option on almost any roster. Despite his limited usage this season, he would immediately become the Raiders’ top passing option.
Diggs has additional value in his contract. At just 25-years-old, Diggs is under contract through the 2023 season, making about $13 million a season.
Despite the five-year, $72 million contract with $40 million in guaranteed money, Diggs was reportedly not too pleased about the slow start in Minnesota this season. With the team 2-2 through the first four games, Diggs felt discontented by his involvement in the offense.
The national circled around every possible dig that Stefon Diggs had for the Vikings. They hunted for subtle tweets that could possibly relate to his situation.
With rumors already swirling, Diggs was confronted with the rumors that he wanted out of Minnesota.
His response didn’t exactly quell any of Minnesota’s concerns.
Here’s what he had to say to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
"“I feel there’s truth to all rumors, no matter how you dress you it up. I won’t be saying nothing on it. I won’t be speaking on it at all. But there is truth to all rumors, I guess.”"
That’s about as thinly veiled as it gets for professionalism masking discontent.
Of course, there’s been conflicting reports week to week. One week, we’re hearing that Diggs staying in Minnesota is a lost cause. The next, we’re hearing that there never were any issues in the first place.
Still, it’s hard to completely write off these comments that Diggs has made. He was right when he said that there is some amount of truth to every rumor. The situation isn’t perfect in Minnesota, and it might point to an early divorce the Vikings and one of their top offensive options.
That doesn’t mean that the Vikings are going to be willing to just give him away for free, however. The Vikings want to go for it this year, and that becomes infinitely easier when Stefon Diggs is included in the equation.

That probably makes it a little harder to imagine a deal that is just a bunch of draft picks sent in exchange for the top receiver. They’re going to want something that still improves the team in some way.
With the Oakland Raiders and Minnesota Vikings in eerily similar spots in terms of their divisional positioning, a deal would have to benefit both teams immediately with an understanding that the future can’t be compromised either.
Diggs is by no means a general problem in the locker room like some of the other characters that have been spotlighted in these trade rumors, but teams also don’t like to keep around disgruntled workers.
Pinpointing exactly how disgruntled Diggs is could ultimately define how much he could bring back.
At just 25-years-old, Diggs is under contract through the 2023 season and could offer the Raiders stability and even excellence in the passing game for years to come.
But they’ll need to get creative if they want to expedite the process and get him in Silver in Black while the team is still playing in the Bay Area.
Without further ado, here are three trade packages that could land Stefon Diggs with the Oakland Raiders.
