Stock Up: Foster Moreau, Josh Jacobs, Alec Ingold, Maxx Crosby, A.J. Cole

Foster Moreau had the best game of his young career hauling in his first touchdown reception on a beautiful catch in between two defenders on an 18-yard corner route.

Moreau showed nice body adjustment turning to adjust to the ball and hauled in two more receptions in the game finishing with three for 30 yards and a touchdown. He blocked the majority of his snaps and did a good job there as always.

With Darren Waller emerging as one of the most productive tight ends in the league, Moreau gives the team great depth at the position and has the perfect skill set as a second tight end to Waller.

Josh Jacobs had yet another solid day, as did fullback Alec Ingold who cleared the way for him on multiple occasions. Jacobs finished with 79 yards on 17 carries for a 4.6 average.

He also hauled in two receptions for 29 yards, one of which was a 20 yarder where he showed how dangerous he can be in the open field, juking his man and taking it for the extra yards.

On the same play, Jacobs also put in a nice chip block before going into his route, showing two of the reasons he was considered the top back in the draft in one play — blocking and receiving.

The Raiders lined up in a lot of I-formations, as well as the strong and weak-I — all formations with the fullback on the field — and Ingold helped pave the way for Jacobs a multitude of times.

Ingold also got his first NFL carry which was on a 4th-and-1 in the third quarter where he powered his way for the short one-yard gain.

The offensive game plan was clearly to out-power the Colts defense with a lot of runs in heavy formations as well as play-action passes, and Moreau, Ingold & Jacobs were all key proponents of why that game plan was successful.

Now to the defensive side of the ball, rookie speed rusher Maxx Crosby had a solid outing, finishing with two solo tackles, a forced fumble, two pass deflections, as well as a QB hit. Crosby ran a lot of inside stunts in this game and that is where the majority of his good plays came on.

Both of his deflections came on inside stunts, as did his QB hit on Brissett which was probably his best pass rush of the day, stunting inside and then using a rip move to get past the right guard and hit Brissett forcing the incompletion.

Crosby also had a big play against the run, shoving tight-end Jack Doyle to the ground and making the tackle for no gain on a 3rd-and-2 in the fourth quarter.

This was a career game for Crosby as he earned an 85.2 grade per PFF topping all Raiders defenders. And through four weeks, he has so far outplayed first round pick Clelin Ferrell.

Last but not least, undrafted free agent punter A.J. Cole had his fourth impressive game in a row, punting five times with an average of 50.6, with three being downed inside the 20-yard-line.

Cole has been night and day from last year’s rookie Johnny Townsend and the difference has shown us why having a good punter really is important.

That’s something Raiders fans haven’t had to question for the 20 years prior with one of the all-time great punters in Shane Lechler and one of the best in the league when he was playing in Marquette King holding down the position before 2018.
