Keep pucks out of the net

Martin Jones expects to carry the load at this point as he must round into form before the playoffs arrive. His work between the pipes improved since the start of the year but could benefit with his teammates playing better in front of him.

Aaron Dell will get a few more starts after an off-night in his last start against Arizona. In the Sharks’ farm system, the netminders on the Barracuda appear ready to supplant Dell as the backup possibly.

Dell has one more year on his current contract, and the Sharks could upgrade behind Jones for a rental. San Jose dipped into the goaltender market back in 2016, acquiring James Reimer before the deadline.

Regardless of who DeBoer chooses, strong goaltending by Jones and Dell will help boost the confidence of those on the ice in teal.
