San Francisco 49ers: Live Thread Versus Bears

The San Francisco 49ers will officially open Levi’s Stadium against the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football. For those of us who couldn’t make it out to the 49ers’ new home in Santa Clara, there’s no need to worry. We have the Live Thread where all San Francisco fans can discuss the action as it unfolds on the field.

Coming off of a convincing win against the Dallas Cowboys, there’s no reason to believe the 49ers shouldn’t be able to control the game.

In Week One, San Francisco forced four turnovers (three interceptions and one fumble recovery) and committed zero turnovers of their own. They were able to move the ball through the air and on the ground versus Dallas’ defense in the first half, but failed to score in the second half.

While the 49ers are plagued with injuries on the defensive side of the ball, the Bears have quite a few question marks offensively.

As of now, cornerbacks Tramaine Brock and Chris Culliver, and offensive tackle Anthony Davis are all questionable. According to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, Culliver will play while Brock and Davis will sit.

For Chicago, wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall are questionable (but it seems as if both will indeed be active), while fellow receiver — and ex-49er — Josh Morgan is doubtful.

Marshall is expected to play, but even if he can’t, the Bears should be able to put pressure on San Francisco’s defense. Matt Forte should find holes to run against the 49ers’ depleted front-seven just as DeMarco Murray did last week. Forte’s ability to catch passes out of the backfield will also prove to be difficult to stop.
