MLB All-Star Game: Start Time, TV Info, and More

The 2014 MLB All-Star Game is today, and here at Golden Gate Sports, we want to make sure that you have all the information you need to enjoy this year’s All-Star Game.

This is the 85th MLB All-Star Game, and it will feature the best players of the National League and the American League. Unlike some other All-Star Games in other sports, the winning league of the MLB All-Star Game will earn home field advantage for their league in that year’s World Series. Because of that, there is some extra importance to winning the game.

The National League squad will be led by Mike Matheny, the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, and the American League squad will be led by John Farrell, the manager of the Boston Red Sox.

The starters for each league were voted on by fans between April 24th and July 3rd. The top vote-getters for each position and for each league were named the starters, and they were announced on July 6th. MLB also released the All-Star Final Vote campaign, which allowed fans to vote again and decide who would earn the final spot on each league’s roster. Five players for each league were on the ballot, and fans could vote for one player per league between July 6th through July 10th. Chris Sale, a pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, and Anthony Rizzo, the first baseman for the Chicago Cubs, won the Final Vote for their respective leagues.
