The 2014 NBA Draft is today, and it’s an exciting time to be an NBA fan. Leading up to the NBA Draft, there’s a constant stream of trade rumors and predictions about what team will pick which prospect. On the day of the Draft, several trades occur, sometimes between many teams and sometimes involving big-name NBA players. Some teams make questionable picks, and some teams end up making a pick for another team, because they plan on trading that pick away.
The NBA Draft Lottery occurred on May 20th, and the Cleveland Cavaliers once again won the number one overall pick. In the 2013 NBA Draft, the Cavaliers also had the number one overall pick, and they surprised many people around the NBA when they selected Anthony Bennett out of UNLV.
The Bay Area teams have been in the mix of several of the trade rumors. The Sacramento Kings currently have the eighth overall pick, but there has been much speculation about whether or not they will actually use the pick. They could include the pick in a trade for a player such as Josh Smith or Rajon Rondo. We’ll have to wait and see until later today what they decide to do.
As of now, the Golden State Warriors don’t have a draft pick in either round of the Draft. They’ve been linked to Kevin Love in trade rumors, and there have also been rumors that they’re talking to the Minnesota Timberwolves about acquiring the 13th overall pick. It’ll be interesting to see if they can find a way to get into the Draft somehow.
