The Oakland Raiders are set for a prime time matchup with arch-rival Denver coming into town. With sole possession of first place on the line, let’s look at a few keys to victory.

It’s a position the Oakland Raiders haven’t found themselves in quite a lot over the last decade and a half – battling it out for sole possession of first place in the AFC West. But with their bitter and hated rivals, the Denver Broncos coming into town for a Sunday night game, that’s exactly the position the Raiders are in.

Both teams sit at 6-2 on the year and a win would give them the top spot in the division. Of course, the Kansas City Chiefs sit at 5-2 and are nipping at the heels of both teams, but that’s neither here nor there at this point.

A win moves the Raiders to 7-2 and gives them an edge over this Broncos team. But it is going to be a real dogfight. Though both teams are doing some incredible things so far this season, neither team is without its flaws.

For Denver, most of those flaws are on the offensive side of the ball, while Oakland’s are on the defensive side. A high powered offense led by Derek Carr and company are going to find it tough sledding against the league’s third ranked defense.

But Oakland’s defense is improving and against Denver’s twenty-seventh ranked offense, they have the chance to make some plays.

It’s going to be a battle of attrition in the Bay Area and a fight between high powered offense versus suffocating defense. It’s going to come down to who executes when it’s needed most.

With first place in the hyper-competitive AFC West on the line, let’s look at a few keys to a Raiders victory over the Broncos.
