The Oakland Raiders, after a humbling defeat at home, take to the road, trying to get back on track, while the Jaguars are looking to build on the momentum earned in their victory last week. Let’s look at a few keys to a Raiders victory over Jacksonville.

On paper, you’d think the Oakland Raiders had a big advantage over their next opponent – the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Raiders sit at 4-2 while the Jaguars thus far, are a disappointing 2-3. Given all of their upgrades over the last couple of offseasons, many thought the Jags were a dark horse contender for a playoff spot.

So far, it hasn’t worked out that way for Jacksonville, though given the state of the AFC South, they’re still not completely out of the running for a division crown.

Jacksonville has gotten off to a rough start this season, starting off 0-3. Since they though, they’ve started to build some momentum with back to back wins over Indianapolis and Chicago. Though some will undoubtedly point out that the Colts and Bears have combined record of 3-10, so Jacksonville’s small win streak should be taken with a grain of salt.

But, this is the NFL and nothing can ever be taken for granted. As the old saying goes, any team can win on any given Sunday.

Especially when the team in question has a defense more porous than the hull of the Titanic post-iceberg and an offense that look positively ordinary in a 26-10 thumping at the hands of division rival Kansas City.

For all of their strengths, the Raiders have some glaring problems. Most of them come on the defensive side of the ball, but some offensive shortcomings were really exposed against the Chiefs. After a solid week of practice and game planning, we can hope the Raiders will have made some of the necessary adjustments.

If they haven’t, it could be another long and frustrating day for the team and fans.

Let’s break down a few of the keys to a Raiders victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
