With both Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau entering their age-36 campaigns during the 2015-2016 NHL season, it may be time for the next “era” of San Jose Sharks hockey to begin with Joe Pavelski, 31, and Logan Couture, 26, leading the herd of young talent.

When the Sharks begin the new season on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Kings, there’s a good possibility that there will be seven players for the Sharks playing that night that are 25 years old or younger. These players include Joonas Donskoi, Tomas Hertl, Matt Nieto, Chris Tierney, Brenden Dillon, Mirco Mueller, and new goaltender Martin Jones.

While the Sharks will remain competitive this season, it will also be a huge step toward the future with so many up-and-coming players figuring to log some serious ice time.
