With just one game remaining for the San Francsico 49ers in the NFL preseason and plenty of roster spots to be decided, we bring you a quick breakdown of the most heated position battles, as well as players to keep an eye on.

75 guys on the roster, 22 of whom will be gone by Saturday afternoon at the latest. We bring you the five biggest things to watch for this evening as the 49ers take on the Texans.

Do the 49ers have a serviceable backup quarterback? Could Stevie Johnson get cut? Did I just see our offensive line let another defender past them in pass protection? How much will Aldon Smith play this season?

Tons of questions, not enough answers, but hopefully after tonight’s game we have a few more answers to those questions.

Either way having this level of competition, even at the backup positions, is great for maintaining a high level of play. Unfortunately that also means quality players may get cut, even those that the front office spent a fourth-round pick on in a trade. But, that’s football.

So, here they are, five players/position battles to keep an eye one as you watch preseason game four. If anything it should keep you into the game a bit more since we are less likely to see the starters play. We may be graced with the 1st team offense considering they have not scored a touchdown yet, but even if we do see them it won’t be for very long.
