Golden Gate Sports continues to recap some of the best single-season performances in the history of the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants as we anticipate Opening Day.

Today, we look at the 10 best seasons by shortstops in the history of the Giants, dating to their arrival in San Francisco in 1958.

This is the seventh installment in the series on the Giants, as we’ve already listed the top 10 seasons for left field, relievers, catchers, second basemen, third basemen and center fielders.

To qualify for this list, players needed 100 games at the position for the season in question. This requirement was not prorated for the strike-shortened seasons of 1981 or 1994.

Before you turn the page, here are the five seasons that just missed the cut:

15. Royce Clayton, 1993
14. Brandon Crawford, 2013
13. Rich Aurilia, 2000
12. Royce Clayton, 1995
11. Jose Vizcaino, 1997
