The Golden State Warriors have announced their game schedule for the 2014 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Their first game is on Friday July 11th against the Charlotte Hornets, their second game is on Saturday July 12th against the Phoenix Suns, and their third game is on Monday July 14th against the Los Angeles Lakers.
This year’s Summer League will follow the same tournament-style schedule that was used last year. 24 teams will participate in the Las Vegas Summer League, and each team will play three pre-scheduled, preliminary round games between July 11th-15th.
After that, each team will be seeded in a tournament, and the tournament will continue through July 16th-21st. Each team will play at least five games, so the Warriors are guaranteed to play at least two more games after those three pre-scheduled games. The two teams that make it to the Championship on July 21st will have each played eight games.
Fans will get their first glimpse at Warriors’ new head coach, Steve Kerr, as he is set to coach this year’s Summer League team. Fans will get a chance to see his coaching style, what some of his coaching philosophies are, and what kind of system, offensively and defensively, he will run with the Warriors this upcoming season. Kerr hasn’t hired his assistant coaches yet, so we don’t know yet what his coaching staff will look like at Summer League.
The Summer League roster will be announced at a later date as well, but Nemanja Nedovic, Ognjen Kuzmic, and Festus Ezeli are expected to play this summer.
The Warriors won the inaugural NBA Summer League Championship last season behind the leadership of former Warriors assistant coach Darren Erman, former Warrior Kent Bazemore, and Draymond Green. They also have won their last 14 games in Summer League, dating back to 2010.
