According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Bay Area Sports Guy the San Francisco 49ers and Colin Kaepernick have agreed to a six-year extension worth over $110 million dollars.
Colin Kaeprnick’s 6-year deal is worth $110+ million, per sources. Heavy guarantees, too. Record guarantees.

Apparently the deal also includes a heavy amount of guarantees, and according the Adam Schefter they might be record-breaking.That proved to be right, and Ian Rappaport also has a bit more insight.
To be specific, the Kaepernick 6-year extension includes $61M guaranteed, the highest ever.

To be frank, that’s ridiculous money. However, if the San Francisco 49ers believe he is the quarterback of the future then he may be worth it.
The 26-year-old draft pick from the 49ers has done nothing but lead San Francisco to plenty of success ever since he took over the starting role from Alex Smith in 2012. This includes back-to-back NFC Championship appearances as well as a Super Bowl loss to the Ravens.
In 2013 Colin Kaepernick threw for 3,197 yards as well as 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions. But, most impressive are probably his rushing stats, where he 524 yards on 92 attempts, good for 5.8 yards per carry, to go along with four rushing touchdowns.
Now that he has signed, this will definitely set the precedence for a few other high-profile quarterback who are vying for contract extensions, in particular Alex Smith. It will be interesting how this montrous deal affects the rest of starting quarterback market moving forward. For more on whether or not he was deserving of his contract, check it out here!
