San Francisco Giants Clubhouse Goes Medieval

The San Francisco Giants clubhouse is beginning to look medieval.

Michael Morse started a collection of classic war helmets, beginning with his own black Spartan helmet. After the helmet found a home in Morse’s locker, Hunter Pence matched the action by bringing in a Gladiator type of helmet.

Sergio Romo, Brandon Hicks and Jeremy Affeldt have now followed suit. Romo has a traditional Dia De Los Muertos skull helmet, Hicks has a viking helmet with typical metal horns attached and Affeldt has a Middle Ages great helm.

“That one’s called ‘The Crusader. We thought that would be a good fit for him,” Morse said in regards to the great helm. When a reporter mentioned that it looked like a helmet worn in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Morse couldn’t help but laugh.

A new addition to the Giants roster in the 2014 season, Morse is bringing a hilarious tradition to the team. For those without helmets, it’s only a matter of time before one will surface. Tim Lincecum will soon be receiving a mask and lion head. Next up is Tim Hudson. Morse is currently in the process of finding a suitable helmet for him.

What the players do with these helmets is a question we may never have an answer to.
