According to a report, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is being investigated by Miami police in connection with a possible sexual assault that allegedly took place last week.
“There was an incident and we are investigating,” Miami Police chief Manuel Orosa told the Miami Herald Thursday.
According to the Herald report, the alleged incident took place April 1 and was reported the police on April 3.
According to a copy of a police report acquired by CBSSports.com, a woman claims she went to the apartment of Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, who played for the 49ers in 2012. Kaepernick and 49ers teammate Quinton Patton were reportedly at the apartment when the woman said she arrived.
“The 49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts,” the 49ers said in a statement.
So let the rush to judgment by the jury that is the Internet begin. The woman acknowledged in the police report that she has a prior sexual history with Kaepernick.
But if TMZ.com is reporting gory details, they have to be true, right?
That’s not to say the police report paints a picture of three guys and a girl getting together for coffee and donuts.
According to the report, the woman says she mixed drinks for the players and gave them shots and says she was compelled to “hit” a marijuana bong before she was allowed to drink the shots.
She reportedly told the police that she was naked in bed with Kaepernick when he left the room and Lockette and Patton opened the door and looked inside. She says she can’t remember anything after telling them to get out of the room until she woke up in a hospital bed later with no memory of how she got there.
It’s another incident involving law enforcement for a franchise that has had several in recent months. Linebacker Aldon Smith is facing a court date related to separate incidents of a DUI and allegations of illegal weapons possession and cornerback Chris Culliver was arrested in relation to an alleged hit-and-run involving a bicyclist.
