The scheduled game Friday between the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners was postponed due to poor field conditions, according to MLB.com.
After not having a game rained out since 1998, the A’s have had two postponements in the first week of the season. Tuesday’s game with the Indians was postponed by rain and made up as part of a day-night doubleheader on Wednesday.
The A’s and Mariners, however, will not play two during this set. The Mariners are scheduled to return to Oakland in May and September.
The A’s still plan to start Dan Straily, who was scheduled to go Friday. The Mariners, however, will bypass scheduled starter Chris Young and will instead go with Saturday’s scheduled starter, former Cy Young winner Felix Hernandez (1-0, 3.00 ERA).
