Former 49er Carlos Rogers Signs With Oakland Raiders

UPDATED: 6:44 p.m. 3/31/14

The Oakland Raiders announced Monday evening they have signed a second former San Francisco 49ers cornerback, Carlos Rogers.

Rogers was released by the 49ers earlier this month to clear cap space. Tarell Brown signed with the Raiders as a free agent earlier this month after spending seven years with the Niners.

CSNBayArea.com reported the deal was for one year.

Rogers, 32, earned a Pro Bowl berth in his first season with the 49ers in 2011, intercepting a career-high six passes after signing as a free agent.

Rogers started all 16 games for San Francisco last season, with two interceptions, eight passes defensed and 47 tackles. But he was hampered by an injured hamstring and missed the team’s first two postseason games before coming back to play in a reserve capacity in the NFC Championship at Seattle.

Rogers has 17 career interceptions in his nine-year career. He was the ninth overall pick in 2005 by the Redskins after an All-American junior year at Auburn.
